On Feb 8th, Yoo Ah In’s agency UAA said, “Yoo Ah In recently received a police investigation regarding propofol. We are actively cooperating with all investigations related to this. We will actively explain the problematic parts. We apologize for causing concern.”
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety requested the police to investigate after noticing that Yoo Ah In prescribed propofol too frequently. Yoo Ah In is accused of habitually using propofol while visiting multiple hospitals. On Feb 6th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit investigated Yoo Ah In once. The police are said to have asked why he was routinely prescribed propofol at several hospitals. In order to confirm whether propofol was habitually administered, Yoo Ah In’s body hair was requested for evaluation by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation, and a ban from leaving the country was also imposed.
As Yoo Ah In was under investigation for habitual use of propofol, the works that were about to be released or will be released in the first half of this year began countermeasure meetings from the morning of Feb 9th. Since production companies and related parties heard the news late at night, they are expected to grasp the situation while keeping a close eye on the police investigation’s result. The movie “The Match”, in which Yoo Ah In and Lee Byung Hun worked together, was originally discussed to be released on Netflix in April.
