YG Crisis Deepens as Another Artist Leaves after BLACKPINK: Yang Hyunsuk in Deeper Trouble than Court

Amid the failure of individual contracts between BLACKPINK members and YG, model and actor Kwon Hyunbin, who gained fame through “Produce 101,” has also left YG, according to a report by SPOTV News on January 3rd.

According to the report, Kwon Hyunbin recently terminated his exclusive contract with YG.

Debuting as a model, Kwon Hyunbin gained recognition as a contestant of “Produce 101” Season 2 under YG KPlus in 2017. He later engaged in activities as part of the project boy group JBJ. In 2019, Kwon Hyunbin released his first solo album, “DIMENSION,” and has consistently pursued music activities.

In 2017, after taking on acting challenges in the drama “Borg Mom,” he actively participated in various works such as “The World of My 17,” “Cafe Kilimanjaro,” “The Red Sleeve.” His upcoming drama, “Andante of Love,” however, has been postponed indefinitely.

On December 6th, 2023, YG Entertainment announced the group exclusive contract renewal for all four BLACKPINK members. Then, on December 29th, YG announced, “We have agreed not to proceed with separate additional contracts for individual activities” and expressed support for the members’ solo activities.

Jennie was the first to announce the establishment of her own agency, ODD ATELIER. She recently guested on KBS 2TV’s ‘The Seasons – Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet’ and said, “I wanted to do all activities freely.”

Jisoo has reportedly joined hands with her family. Jisoo’s older brother, the CEO of Biomom, recently hinted at the establishment of an entertainment company named ‘Blissoo’ to manage Jisoo’s entertainment activities. 

In addition to BLACKPINK, in June of last year, G-Dragon terminated his exclusive contract with YG, and in 2022, boy group iKON, actor Kang Dongwon, and others also left the company.

Meanwhile, Yang Hyunsuk was sentenced to six months in prison with a one-year probation at the second trial for charges of attempting to cover up drug use allegations against former iKON’s B.I.
