While IU steals the attention at Cannes’s Red Carpet, the absence of this actress leaves great regret

Actress Bae Doo-na will be absent from the Cannes Film Festival.

Star News reported that Bae Doo-na would not attend the 75th Cannes International Film Festival, which has begun on May 17th.

Bae Doo-na was officially invited to the Cannes Film Festival this year together with “Broker” director Hirokazu Kore-eda, actors Song Kang-ho, Kang Dong-won, IU, Lee Joo-young and “Next So-hee” director Jung Ju-ri.

Unfortunately, Bae Doo-na couldn’t appear at the Red Carpet event. This is because she is currently having a filming schedule in the U.S. While staying in the U.S, Bae Doo-na reportedly tried to arrange her schedule to attend the Cannes until the end but eventually decided to be absent from the event.

What’s noteworthy is that both “Broker” and “Next So-hee” are works by directors who are really close to Bae Doo-na. In particular, the actress starred in Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Japanese film “Air Doll” in 2009 and Jung Ju-ri’s Korean film “A Girl at My Door” in 2014.

Director Hirokazu Kore-eda mentioned his experience of working with Bae Doo-na and praised the actress through JTBC on May 27th, saying, “Whenever Bae Doo-na comes in and begins filming, all the takes will be absolutely OK. Bae Doo-na’s acting and skills have become much more amazing.”
