Victim of hair straightener bullying depicted in “The Glory” further condemned after TV appearance

A message left by the victim of the “straightening iron school violence” incident, who recently appeared on TV,  draws attention.

On February 7th, Park Seong Min, a victim of a real-life “hair straightener school violence” case, which was depicted in “The Glory”, left a comment under a video published by Channel S.

In her message, Park said, “I’m not the main character of the Cheongju incident, but I couldn’t forget what I went through when I was in middle school in Daegu, even after a long time.”

“People who are writing comments like ‘Why did you come here now, don’t lie, you look worthy of being beaten’, I didn’t come out to see you”, she wrote, adding, “People who wrote malicious comments, I hope you hear the same as words as the comments you wrote here when you are having a hard time.”

Previously, Park Seong Min appeared on Channel S’s show “Attack on Sisters”, and disclosed her hellish experiences of school bullying. However, after the episode was aired, she ended up suffering from further criticisms of netizens, who accused her of lying and said she deserved to be bullied.

On the show, Park said, “I was bullied by two people when I was in the 2nd and 3rd grade of middle school. I was beaten a lot and even burned with a straightener (like ‘The Glory’).”

She also revealed, “I looked at (the perpetrators) SNS… They published all sorts of things from charitable donations, nurse licenses, to social worker licenses. That’s why it’s so upsetting and creepy… I was so angry that I couldn’t speak.”
