On September 28, a video surfaced on Chinese platform Weibo, allegedly showing a man and woman on a date inside what appeared to be a private room at a bar. In the clip, the man is seen playing with the woman’s hair as she lay on the sofa and later back-hugging her as she prepared to leave. The woman is also shown smoking an e-cigarette.
The source of the leak remains unclear, though it appears the footage came from the establishment’s CCTV system. The timestamp on the recording marked May 7.
Some netizens speculated that the individuals in the video were VERIVERY’s Kangmin and KISS OF LIFE’s Julie, prompting both agencies to begin verifying the facts.

However, the narrative shifted after new photos were released. While the man’s face was not clearly visible in the original video, the additional images revealed a person who looked nothing like Kangmin.
Fans quickly spoke out, criticizing the reckless spread of private footage and the rise of baseless rumors that damage idols’ reputations. Many also called on the agencies to take strong legal action against false information and defamation.
Kangmin recently wrapped up his participation in Mnet’s Boys II Planet, finishing in ninth place. Reflecting on the experience, he expressed gratitude: “It was a tough four months, but I’m so happy I could be part of such an amazing broadcast with great people. Thank you to everyone who supported me despite my shortcomings. This might be the end of Boys II Planet, but my life has so much ahead. I’ll do my best to become a great idol for you all.”
Meanwhile, Julie and her group KISS OF LIFE are preparing for their official Japanese debut later this year.
