Huening Kai’s Basic Info
Huening Kai was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. His mother is Korean and his father is Brazilian. He is also part German from his dad’s side.
He has 2 sisters – with both being celebrities. In particular, his older sister Lea, born in 2000, debuted in K-pop girl group VIVA. However, the group has disbanded, and Lea herself is no longer an idol. Meanwhile, Huening Kai’s youngest sister is Bahiyyih, who gained attention via the survival show “Girls Planet 999” and later debted in girl group Kep1er.
Huening Kai originally attended Lila Art High School, but later transferred to Hanlim Arts High School as a Practical Dance major. He graduated in 2021.
Huening Kai’s Career
Prior to debuting as TXT, Huening Kai used to briefly appear on Chinese TV shows “Shibo Quanjia Dou Lai Sai” and “X-Change Season 1”.
He also formed a band in middle school with his friends, where he assumed the role of vocalist.
Later on, Kai joined Big Hit as a trainee and trained for 2 years and a half. He originally just wanted to be a singer-songwriter, but Big Hit suggested him try dancing, which resulted in him becoming an idol.
On January 15, 2019, Huening Kai was introduced as the 3rd member of TXT after his teaser video was published on YouTube. The group debuted on March 4, 2019 with their first mini album “The Dream Chapter: STAR”.

Huening Kai participated in the writing and composition of “Roller Coaster” – a song from TXT’s first studio album “The Dream Chapter: MAGIC”, which made him the youngest K-pop idol to be registered under the Korean Music Copyright Association (KOMCA).
The male idol has shown his musical excellence ever since he was a child. He has perfect pitch and plays a wide range of musical instruments, including drums, guitar, piano, and flute, leading to fans praising him as a “musical prodigy” and “diamond maknae”.
He is also known to do ballet during his time in China.
