Special information about TXT

TXT is a 4th generation K-pop boy group. With the group’s huge popularity both in and outside of Korea, they are considered one of the top boy groups of the 4th generation.

The group’s name, TXT, is an acronym for Tomorrow X Together. In Korean, the group’s name is read as “Tomorrow by Together”. According to TXT’s official website, “Tomorrow X Together” refers to 5 individuals who “come together under one dream in hopes of building a better tomorrow”.

As the first group to debut under Big Hit after BTS, TXT received immense attention as well as pressure of being “BTS’s little brother”. As of today, however, TXT has amassed a strong fanbase of their own and became known for their unique concept and music.

TXT Fandom

MOA (모아) is TXT’s official fandom name. This name was officially announced on August 22, 2019.

MOA can be interpreted in many different ways. In particular, in Korean, “모아” means to gather/collect, referring to TXT and fans gather different fragments of their dreams to complete one dream of their own.

Controversies

Fandom name: Before “MOA”, Big Hit announced that the official fandom name of TXT will be “YOUNG ONE”. However, immediately after the name announcement, it was pointed out that this fandom name was already used for fans of Girls’ Generation member Tiffany Young. As a result, Big Hit issued an apology and later changed the fandom name to “MOA”.

Made in Abyss: In 2023, TXT’s Soobin, alongside many other K-pop idols like NCT’s Taeyong, SEVENTEEN’s Woozi, ATEEZ’s Mingi, and more, came underfire for watching/recommending the Japanese animation “Made in Abyss”, which contain a lot of problematic and dark elements. However, fans of “Made in Abyss” and many netizens defended the idols, saying that the work is of a dark fantasy genre, the problematic elements are painted in a bad light, and that people need to differentiate between fiction and reality

Video call with RIIZE’s Seunghan: In 2023, a video said to be of RIIZE’s Seunghan and  TXT’s Soobin was published on SNS platform X, drawing attention. In the video, Seunghan allegedly dissed another idol (who may or may not be Soobin himself) and made comments about LE SSERAFIM’s Eunchae, drawing criticism. Meanwhile, the alleged Soobin responded by revealing the image of his foot making a “middle finger”. In the end, Seunghan had to take an indefinite hiatus as various accusations about him boiled over. Some netizens criticized Soobin, but most simply find him funny in an interaction with a friend.

Taehyun’s controversial statement: In the past, TXT’s Taehyun was revealed to have said that his happiness is “directly related to the album sales numbers”, implying that fans should buy more albums. This statement of Taehyun quickly fell under criticisms as netizens accused the male idols of treating fans like “ATMs”, but a lot still defended the male idol, believing that he was simply making a joke.

Taehyun’s alleged clubbing allegation: Back in 2023, a netizen published several footage of Taehyun partying at a club, claiming the male idol came straight there after a fansign event. The photos and video also showed Taehyun having close skinship with two women, leading to some fans expressing their disappointment. However, criticisms died down as netizens defended the male idol, who said that everyone deserves to have fun and let loose, and Taehyun’s actions don’t hurt anyone.
