Jeongyeon became emotional while talking about her older sister, actress Gong Seung Yeon, during a preview for tvN’s popular variety show You Quiz on the Block.
On May 6, the broadcast unveiled a teaser featuring the celebrity sisters ahead of their upcoming guest appearance. During the preview, Gong Seung Yeon discussed her recent popularity through the MBC drama Perfect Crown.
Jeongyeon proudly shared her support for her sister, saying, “I’m so happy that my sister is doing well these days.”
However, the TWICE member soon became emotional while recalling a difficult period in her life.
“It was a time when I was mentally struggling a lot,” she said before suddenly tearing up and admitting, “I’m getting emotional.”
The preview quickly drew attention from fans, many of whom sympathized with Jeongyeon’s past health struggles and praised the close bond between the sisters.
Previously, Jeongyeon underwent surgery for a herniated disc in 2020. During her recovery process, she experienced side effects from steroid medication, which reportedly led to Cushing syndrome and sudden weight gain.
Since then, Jeongyeon has continued managing her health through steady exercise and treatment. After returning to activities with TWICE, she has received support from fans for maintaining stable health and actively participating in performances once again.
