On May 7, ADOR cautiously addressed speculation about Minji’s return to NewJeans in a statement shared with MK Sports.
“We are continuing internal discussions regarding future activities,” the agency stated.
While avoiding detailed confirmation, ADOR added: “Please understand that discussions are generally continuing in a positive direction.”
The statement quickly drew attention from fans amid increasing speculation surrounding NewJeans’ future lineup.
Earlier, ADOR posted “HAPPY MINJI DAY” on NewJeans’ official social media accounts along with photos of cookies personally baked by Minji.
The cookies were reportedly the same ones Minji handed out to fans after visiting a birthday café event held in celebration of her birthday. This marks the first time NewJeans’ official account has publicly mentioned Minji since the controversy surrounding former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin.
Previously, in November 2024, all five NewJeans members claimed their exclusive contracts with ADOR had been violated and unilaterally announced contract termination before beginning independent activities. However, the group lost the first trial in October last year regarding the validity of their exclusive contracts with ADOR. Following the ruling, the members reportedly expressed intentions one by one to return to the agency without filing an appeal.
Danielle’s situation, however, took a different turn.
In December of the same year, ADOR allegedly informed Danielle that she could no longer continue as a member of NewJeans and notified her of contract termination. The company also reportedly filed a ₩43.1 billion damages lawsuit against Danielle, one of her family members, and Min Hee Jin.
At present, Haerin, Hyein, and Hanni are said to have finalized their return to ADOR, while discussions regarding Minji’s specific return conditions are reportedly still ongoing.
Because of this, public attention has been focused on whether NewJeans will continue as a four-member group or possibly a trio. Although ADOR had remained silent on the matter until now, many netizens believe Minji has “effectively returned” to NewJeans after the agency publicly celebrated her birthday through the group’s official account.
