tvN’s new drama that is going viral as soon as it first aired (+ controversy over overlapping appearances)

There is a new tvN drama that is going viral as soon as it first aired.

It is tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Delightfully Deceitful” starring actors Chun Woo Hee and Kim Dong Wook.

On May 29th, the first episode of “Delightfully Deceitful” was broadcast. Shortly after the first episode aired, thousands of comments about “Delightfully Deceitful” poured out on SNS such as Twitter, which is sensitive to real-time reactions. Netizens generally responded that it was fun. They praised the exciting development of “Delightfully Deceitful” and the feast of fresh characters.

“Delightfully Deceitful” tells the story of a man and a woman with completely different temperaments meeting and taking revenge together toward one goal.

In episode 1, the meeting between Lee Ro Woom (Chun Woo Hee), who was called a memorization genius in the past, and Han Moo Young (Kim Dong Wook), a lawyer suffering from hyper-empathy syndrome, was depicted. Lee Ro Woom, who had been serving 10 years in prison as a murderer, was acquitted when the real criminal Ye Chung Sik (Park Wan Kyu) appeared. Lee Ro Woom was cleared of the false charge when Han Moo Young, the lawyer in charge of Ye Chung Sik, released a recorded tape of Ye Chung Sik admitting the charge to the media. Lee Ro Woom then hired Han Moo Young as the lawyer in charge of the lawsuit for national compensation, and the relationship between the two began in earnest.

Episode 1 of “Delightfully Deceitful” (hereinafter based on paid platforms, provided by Nielsen Korea) recorded an average of 5.0% and a maximum of 6.1% based on households in the metropolitan area. In terms of households nationwide, it recorded an average of 4.6% and a maximum of 5.4%. It took first place in the same time slot in the metropolitan area and nationwide, announcing its cruise.

Meanwhile, Kim Dong Wook was embroiled in controversy over overlapping appearances. Kim Dong Wook is also appearing in KBS2’s Monday-Tuesday drama “My Perfect Stranger”, which first aired on May 1st. Initially, “My Perfect Stranger” was scheduled to be broadcast as a Wednesday-Thursday drama in January this year, but the airing was postponed to May as KBS abolished Wednesday-Thursday dramas. As a result, Kim Dong Wook will appear overlappingly for about 4 weeks in “My Perfect Stranger” and “Delightfully Deceitful”. In this situation, only the main actor Kim Dong Wook suffered damage.

At the press conference of “My Perfect Stranger” held at the end of last month, director Kang Soo Yeon said, “I felt sorry that ‘My Perfect Stranger’ overlapped with Kim Dong Wook’s next work for about a month. It’s an unfortunate coincidence. As much as the staff worked hard for this work, we did our best in post-production so that (overlapping appearances, etc.) wouldn’t become an issue.”
