tvN entertainment program criticized for causing accidents and injuries in dangerous games, “I couldn’t move my body”

Episode 6 of tvN’s program “The Wedding War” sparked controversy over participants’ accidents.

The 6th episode of “The Wedding War”, which aired on August 6th, showed the 3:3 joint battle. Couples were divided into two teams, White and Black.

Problems occurred in the second and third rounds. In the second round, female team members must climb a 4-meter-high wall to get the flag to win. The last member of the White team Kim Hae Ri couldn’t catch the rope and fell over the heads of two male members who were standing on the ground below her. Since there were no safety measures, the participants faced a situation where more significant accidents might have happened.

In the third round, the members had to flip a 300kg tire together. After 30 minutes, the production crew reduced the time limit and the number of participants. Later, one male and one female member of each team had to pass the 300kg tire to each other. Despite many confrontations, the game showed no signs of ending. In an interview after the game, Mariam confessed, “I felt dizzy and couldn’t move my body. I wanted to drink water but couldn’t put the tire down.”

Member Choi Kwang Won of the same team also had finger injuries but he had to wrap the bandage around his finger to continue the game. The mission actually lasted for more than 3.5 hours.

Competitiveness is important, but the safety of the participants should be considered the top priority. Unexpected accidents can occur at any time.

Accidents in variety shows are not rare. Due to risky filming environments and a lack of consideration from production teams, there have even been instances where participants lost their lives. It is time for “The Wedding War” production team to take measures to prevent more serious accidents from happening.
