“Three members are still…” A famous idol group is reaching their 7th-year jinx

MONSTA X is nearing the jinx of its seventh year as an idol group.

According to an entertainment industry insider on May 9th, MONSTA X is reaching the end of their current contract with Starship Entertainment.

Currently, only Shownu, Kihyun, and Hyungwon have completed renewing their contracts. Minhyuk, Jooheon and I.M are still discussing. However, it is known that the remaining three members are said to still be discussing with the agency because they did not indicate that they would not renew their contracts.

Monsta X

MONSTA X debuted in May 2015. At first, they were a seven-member group, but when Wonho left in November 2019, the team was reorganized into a six-member system. They are widely loved for their tough manly charm, and have toured around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.

Monsta X Minhyuk

Earlier in 2019, Wonho withdrew from MONSTA X after Jung Dae-eun, a former member of Comedy TV’s “Ulzzang Generation,” revealed that Wonho didn’t pay him back his debt and was even placed under probation when he was a student.

Later, Wonho broke up with his agency Starship Entertainment as he was also embroiled in marijuana charges. However, the marijuana charges were cleared soon after. Afterward, he released a solo song and resumed his activities as a solo artist.
