Daye, who was a member of Berry Good, has successfully cleared herself of school violence accusations.
In 2020, Berry Good Daye filed a lawsuit against A, who accused her of being a school violence perpetrator, for threatening and defamation.
According to JTBC News reports on August 29th, the court acknowledged that A made a false school violence discloser in an online community on May 28th, 2019 although they had never been subjected to school violence by Daye. A even told the media that Daye was disciplined for 5 days of school service and 4 hours of special education for school violence, however, all the claims were not true at all and they have caused great damage to Daye’s reputation.
The media reported that the judge’s ruling determined A’s actions as severe based on the defamation, threats, and mental distress suffered by Daye. However, the court fined A 2 million won, considering the fact that A admitted their wrongdoings, reflected on their mistakes, and had no criminal record, etc.
4 years ago, A spread an article online under the title, “Member Daye of girl group Berry Good is a school bully”. At that time, A claimed that they were physically abused and sexually assaulted by Daye (real name Kim Hyun Jung) when they were in the 6th grade of elementary school.
In response, Berry Good’s agency and Daye clarified that the rumor was false and announced strong legal actions.
Daye’s group Berry Good made their debut in 2014 with the single “Love Letter”. However, they officially disbanded in May 2021 when JTG Entertainment was acquired by Star Weave Entertainment.
