“The Uncanny Counter 2” starring Jo Byung Gyu and Kim Se Jeong confirmed to air in the second half of the year

On April 20th, tvN announced, “The beloved ‘The Uncanny Counter’ will return for a season 2, with the main cast of ‘Counters,’ Jo Byung Gyu, Yoo Jun Sang, Kim Se Jeong, Yeom Hye Ran, and Ahn Suk Hwan, joining the team. It is scheduled to air as a weekend drama in the second half of 2023.

The first season of “The Uncanny Counter,” based on the webtoon of the same name, aired on OCN in 2020. It is a refreshing and exciting hero drama about ‘Counters,’ who are demon hunters disguised as employees of a noodle restaurant, defeating demons on Earth.

“The Uncanny Counter,” based on the fresh world of “demon hunters running a noodle restaurant,” provided thrilling catharsis in demon extermination, and warm humanism, gaining great popularity.

The heroes in “The Uncanny Counter” stood out for being ordinary neighbors with warm humanity, rather than super-powered heroes in traditional hero dramas.

Starting with a 2.7% nationwide rating for the first episode (based on Nielsen Korea), “The Uncanny Counter” showed a dramatic increase in ratings every week, with the final episode recording an average of 11% and a peak of 11.9%, becoming the highest-rated drama in OCN history.

“The Uncanny Counter 2” is set to air in the second half of 2023, depicts “Counters” who have become stronger with new abilities and new members, defeating even stronger demons on Earth.

The Counters, who provided fun with their excellent teamwork in the previous season, will begin their demon-hunting with even more exciting and sweat-inducing action in season 2. 

More powerful new demons will appear in front of the Counters with their even more amazing abilities, promising to deliver a dimensionally different fight than the first season.

The addition of new cast members, Jin Sun Kyu, Kang Ki Young, Kim Hye Yoon, and Yoo In Soo, further raises expectations. Jin Sun Kyu plays a benefactor and a passionate firefighter who doesn’t know how to back down. Kang Ki Young and Kim Hye Yoon play the roles of Pil Kwang, who dreams of becoming the top predator with the worst power, and Gelli, a pure evil. Yoo In Soo plays the role of a rookie “Counter” named Jeokbong.
