The return of “World’s Most Beautiful Woman” Nana in new K-drama: mixed responses despite interesting premise

Despite receiving a lot of attention, Nana’s new K-drama “Glitch”, where she stars alongside Jeon Yeo Bin, is not living up to expectations.

The K-drama “Glitch”, which features the “world’s most beautiful woman” Nana and “Vincenzo” star Jeon Yeo Bin, has recently been released as a whole on streaming platform Netflix. With an intriguing premise never seen before in K-dramas, the series draws attention even before it started to air.

“Glitch” is a sci-fi drama which follows Hong Ji Hyo (Jeon Yeo Bin), who has been dating her boyfriend for 4 years. However, just before she decided to break up, her boyfriend went missing after several weird lights appeared. Ji Hyo then seeked the help of a UFO lover club to follow her boyfriend’s traces, and ended up working alongside her ex-bestfriend Heo Bo Ra (Nana), who is a rising YouTuber. Together, the two discovered many secrets, including a cult that specializes in manipulating the human’s mind.

All 10 episodes of “Glitch” were released at the same time, and yet the re’s little discussion surrounding the series, despite it having been heavily promoted. The rare praises found about “Glitch” are mostly about Nana and Jeon Yeo Bin’s acting skills, and the novelty of the series’ genre. Meanwhile, others compare the drama to “Hellbound” for having “a plot that leads to nowhere”, and claim that they easily got bored of it.

Many also commented that the way “Glitch” switches its focus from the UFOs to the mysterious cult is extremely redundant with a bunch of unnecessary details that added nothing to the series. In addition, some commented that “Glitch” has “poor characterization” and an “unconvincing finale”

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • I watched this since I’m a fan of Yeo Bin and the drama annoyed the heck out of me. The trailer is so complex, but the plot ended up being just plain weird. There are so many plot holes and unnecessary details. Some characters serve absolutely no purpose. I was extremely disappointed after having waited such a long time for it.
  • I can only describe “Glitch” in 2 words: Terrible and Boring. I like movies and series about aliens so I thought “Glitch” would be my jam. Sure, it started fun, but fell off half way through and I have never been more disappointed.
  • You can watch this for Yeo Bin or Nana, but don’t expect anything about the plot. If you want good writing, don’t bother wasting your time.
