“The Red Sleeve” Junho, “The bed scene line, ‘I’m going to sleep holding only your hands tonight’, was not in the original script”
2PM member – actor Lee Jun-ho revealed a behind-the-scenes story of the bed scene in “The Red Sleeve”.
The broadcast of MBC’s entertainment program “Radio Star” on January 26th carried out “Let’s Go To Our Palace” Special featuring Lee Jun-ho, Lee Se-young, Jang Hye-jin, Oh Dae-hwan, Kang Hoon and Lee Min-ji.
Regarding the bed scene in “The Red Sleeve”, Lee Jun-ho said, “I tried to act the scene carefully and avoided making mistakes”, adding, “There was originally a scene in the script in which Deok-im took off her jeogori (the upper garment of the hanbok). It was a sexy and affectionate scene. However, during rehearsals, the director said, ‘Let’s not do this’”, raising interest.
He explained, “The director revised the bed scene boldly in order to protect the beautiful, pleasant and exciting atmosphere of the scene. But she said she wanted Deok-im and San to kiss one more time the next morning instead”. Ahn Young-mi agreed, “The morning kiss scene was even more heart-throbbing.”
Yoo Se-yoon jokingly said, “Love actually happens in the morning, right?”, and Lee Jun-ho replied, “That’s why the king was late for the morning meeting”, drawing laughter.
In addition, Lee Jun-ho talked about additional lines at the filming set, “Since me and Se-young were already familiar with the original lines, the additional line, ‘I’m going to sleep holding only your hands tonight’, made us laugh a lot.”, adding, “I wondered if the king could sleep holding only her hands”.
In response, Ahn Young-mi and Yoo Se-yoon rambled, “Now I understand it as an open ending”, “I have a different interpretation, so don’t break my imagination”.
MBC’s drama “The Red Sleeve”, which ended on January 1st, tells a sad romance between king Yi San (Lee Jun-ho), who prioritizes his country before love, and court lady Seong Deok-im (Lee Se-young), who wants to protect the life she has chosen. In particular, the final episode aired on January 1st reached the highest rating peak of 17.4% (based on Nielsen Korea’s data).
