The reason why IU is so well-loved by Korean people

Singer IU continues to show her top popularity with an unrivaled move.

On August 11th, the regular ticketing for IU’s solo concert was held. “The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun”, which will be held at Jamsil Olympic Main Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 17th and 18th of next month, is IU’s first solo concert after three years in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As much as IU has become so famous that she is now the first female singer in Korea to enter the main stadium of Jamsil Main Stadium, the ticketing war was also fierce to not only fanclub members but also ordinary audiences. A total of about 30,000 seats, not including the seats in the fanclub pre-sale held earlier on August 8th, were sold out in only 5 minutes.

Receiving the spotlight from the ticket reservation stage, IU’s concert later drew attention with another news. EDAM Entertainment announced on IU’s official fancafe, saying “Four people who have been confirmed to have continuously attempted abnormal access to the reservation page have been subject to ‘permanent expulsion of IU’s official fanclub and forced withdrawal from fancafe’ and ‘Melon Ticket ID permanent restriction’”, adding “In the case of the expelled members, if you want to explain, please contact us individually and provide evidence”, revealing that they detected illegal ticket reservations and has taken action.

Prior to the ticketing, the agency announced a firm response to the so-called “illegal tickets” traded through premium ticket trading sites as well as illegal reservations through macros. Apart from directly detecting ticket fraud, it also said that they would provide concert tickets and related products to informants after receiving information on illegal ticket transactions.

With the recent consumption of the singers’ concerts, ticket reservations among fans who have been so thirsty for performances have become something like “a star in the sky”. As a result, many fans couldn’t watch the concert due to illegal transactions, as well as fans who were swindled through fraudulent transactions.

IU’s determined and firm move seems to be a measure to prevent illegal ticket transactions and damages to visitors who make legitimate ticket reservations. In fact, many fans are actively participating in this illegal ticket eradication method. Netizens are praising IU’s response, pointing out that this method would set a good precedent for the future concert culture.

IU has maintained her top position as a solo singer and producer, proving her musical capability.

IU receives huge love from the public and always gets called “music queen“. She also spread her influence as a “role model” for many artists.

In addition, she is a celebrity who has continued to do good deeds with regular donations and gain lots of compliments for her good personality. Until now, she has practiced donations to help children, adolescents, and low-income families as well as support recovery campaigns for forest fires, floods, and COVID-19 damage. On August 12th, IU reportedly donated 100 million won to the victims and the recovery of the damage caused by the recent torrential rain.

As such, IU not only earned great achievements as an artist but also tries to take the lead in spreading good influence. This is why IU is so well-loved by the Koreans as an irreplaceable artist.
