Within just 24 hours of release, “Pink Venom” has boasted impressive achievements
BLACKPINK released their pre-release single “Pink Venom” at 1PM (KST) on August 19th, which quickly took over the Kpop world by storm.
After 24 hours of release, the “Pink Venom” MV recorded 86.2 million YouTube views, surpassing “How You Like That” with 83.8 million YouTuber views to become the most-viewed Kpop MV within 24 hours for a girl group. The MV also reached top YouTube trending in 57 nations, including Korea, Australia, Thailand, France, Russia, Japan, the United States, and England, making BLACKPINK the Kpop group with the highest first day view on YouTube in 2022.
On Korean digital charts, “Pink Venom” is now ranking no.1 on Melon real-time, no.1 on Bugs, no.1 on Genie, and no.3 on Flo. Within the first 24 hours, they recorded 468,986 unique listeners – the second highest among Kpop groups, after BIGBANG’s “Still Life”.
On international grounds, BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom” has topped the iTunes chart in 73 nations and regions, including the United States, and debuted at 1st on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart. This is also the first BLACKPINK song to reign over iTunes in the UK.
On the music platform Shazam, “Pink Venom” has surpassed 60,000 streams, while on Apple Music, the single landed in first place on the Top Songs chart. In just a day, the song has also been used as background music for over 100,000 TikTok videos.
2.3 million viewers also tune in to the premiere of the “Pink Venom” MV, surpassing BLACKPINK’s previous record with 1.7 million viewers in “Ice Cream”. The MV also exceeded 10 million views within just 52 minutes of release.
Regarding physical album sales, BLACKPINK has recorded 1.5 million pre-orders for their 2nd full album “Born Pink” in 6 days. This number is expected to increase even further after “Born Pink” hit the shelves on September 16th.
“Pink Venom” is a hip hop song that perfectly embodies the colors of BLACKPINK, and combines sounds of traditional Korean instruments with other modern songs. The song also promotes other cultural elements of Korea, receiving praise from the audience.
