“The Idol” faces cancellation due to The Weeknd’s star behavior?

“The Idol” faces the risk of being canceled after two episodes.

The journey has been filled with obstacles so far for BLACKPINK Jennie’s acting debut, HBO’s “The Idol”. After the second episode, the series supposedly lost 100,000 viewers. After only 1/3 of the series, “The Idol” is facing the risk of being canceled.

According to Page Six, The Weeknd will plan for a season 2 of “The Idol” after the wave of criticisms the series is receiving. Moreover, more staff members on the set are complaining about the actor-cum-producer’s “egomaniacal” behaviors.

A staff working with The Weeknd described the experience as “not ideal … and not one I am eager to repeat”. Another plainly called him “egomaniacal”. After Amy Seimetz left the directorial position last year, “The Idol” was left in the hands of Sam Levinson and The Weeknd, who made it into an entirely new project that derailed from the initial vision.

Lily-Rose Depp also revealed she had to veer away from the actor when The Weeknd was in “his zone”. The famous singer’s decisions confuse the public and his supporters the most. Some turn their backs on him after the series of controversies.

Moreover, The Weeknd’s deep involvement in the script of the series leaves it on the brink of being canceled.  According to an insider source, “This was never meant to be a long-running show, it was always … a limited series”.

However, HBO refuted the information and clarified that there has been no decision made about season 2 of “The Idol”. They affirmed that only Casey Bloys, the head of HBO, had the final say in this matter. Furthermore, in response to the negative reactions, HBO maintained a positive outlook and stated that they saw it coming.
