After that, they have met and talked with Ha Dae Hoon, a prison officer of the CRPT (correctional emergency response team), which is in charge of responding to disturbances in the detention facility. Ha shared his experience with serial killer Yoo Young Chul, saying, “I was assigned to the Southern Seoul Detention Center in 2004 and was on night duty for the first time that night. I saw an inmate’s eyes that were different from others’. I had a hunch that ‘this is Yoo Young Chul,‘” he said. “He asked me what I was looking at, so I continued to have a staring contest with him before saying, ‘Isn’t it natural for an officer to keep watch of prisoners? I’m watching what you’re doing,’ and he turned his head. There is madness in that killer’s eyes,” he remembered.
