Surprising facts that prove the generation gaps in K-pop

K-pop fans have found many interesting facts when putting fourth-generation idols next to their seniors.

4th gen groups are gradually dominating the K-pop industry. Many young idols with outstanding talents and visuals have debuted in recent years. Some netizens made comparisons between 4th gen idols and legendary idols of K-pop’s second generation and were surprised by the huge generation gap. Some young idols of the 4th generation were not even born when their seniors made their first appearance in the music industry.

Leeseo’s age is equal to SNSD’s active years

SM Entertainment debuted the 9-member girl group named Girls’ Generation (SNSD) on August 5th, 2007. With the debut song “Into The New World”, the girls announced the beginning of a new world opened by them.

With their young and passionate energy, SNSD rapidly gained remarkable achievements. Going through ups and downs, this second-generation group remains strong even after 15 years.

What’s interesting is that 15 is also the age of Leeseo, IVE’s youngest member who was born on February 21st, 2007. At the time SNSD debuted, Leeseo was only 6 months old. This amazing “age” difference surprised many people.

The baby that SNSD took care of has already grown up

K-pop fans recently spread the touching moment of SNSD members reuniting with the baby boy they took care of on the entertainment program “Hello Baby” 13 years ago. The members were all emotional when they saw the little boy who had just made his first steps when they met him back then becoming a grown-up teenager. Many K-pop fans were also shocked to realize this fact.

The year aespa’s Karina was born, BoA revived SM Entertainment

aespa’s Karina is known as one of the most popular 4th gen female idols. Not only is she talented, but Karina also draws much attention thanks to her unrealistically stunning visuals that resemble an AI character.

Earlier this year, Karina was selected to join the lineup of GOT The Beat, a project super girl group with the lineup consisting of BoA, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon and Hyoyeon, Red Velvet’s Wendy and Seulgi, aespa’s Karina and Winter. Standing next to her seniors, Karina was not overshadowed and still shone with her aura and skills. During GOT The Beat’s activities, fans realized a surprising fact: Karina was born in the year when BoA achieved an important milestone in her career.

In 2000, BoA gained great success both in the Korean and Japanese music industry. She was the pioneer among SM artists in the international front. BoA was only 13 at the time, but her impact was so huge that she was known as the person who “revived” the company.

Super Junior debuted when LE SSERAFIM’s Eunchae was not yet born

Veteran boy group Super Junior debuted in 2005 and has been active in the industry for almost two decades. This means Super Junior is even a year older than one of their junior idols, LE SSERAFIM’s youngest member Hong Eunchae, who was born in 2006.
