Sunmi’s “Heart Burn” is a plagiarized song too? The K-pop industry is suffering from plagiarism

Netizens are arguing over the accusation of plagiarism of singer Sunmi’s “Heart Burn.”

Recently, various online communities are arguing over the debate that “Sunmi‘s ‘Heart Burn’ is similar to an Avril Lavigne song.”

The song that netizens claimed Sunmi plagiarized is Avril Lavigne’s “I Don’t Give,” which is released in 2002.

In fact, the two songs do sound somewhat similar in the intro melody and the flow of the chorus.

In response, netizens criticized, “It is even more questionable that this is not a big controversy yet,” “It is weirder to explain that these are 2 different songs,” and “The beat can be like that, but even the song is the same.”

On the other hand, there were also netizens who expressed their opinions that “These are songs made using common money codes,” “This is a too common progression, accusing her like this is unreasonable,” and “If we follow this logic, everything is plagiarism.”

Earlier, Yoo Hee-yeol was embroiled in allegations of plagiarism because among the songs released as a recent “Yoo Hee-yeol’s Life Music” project, “Very Private Night” was similar to Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Aqua”.

In the aftermath, singer Lee Juck was also embroiled in allegations that “lie lie lie” plagiarized Raimundo Fagner’s “Rubi Grena,” and recently, Lee Moo-jin’s “Traffic Light” also suffered from “plagiarism suspicion.”

In a related development, Lee Juck dismissed the allegation through YTN, saying, “It is not worth responding to these allegations,” and Lee Moo-jin also warned of a hard-line response, saying, “It is very regrettable that such suspicions have been raised regarding the music created by an artist’s consideration and effort.”
