On February 2nd, the prosecution demanded a one-year prison term for Oh Young-soo and asked the court to order employment restrictions and disclose personal information at the final hearing held by Judge Jeong Yeon-ju of the Seongnam branch of the Suwon District Court.
The prosecution revealed, “In 2017, the defendant was frustrated with the victim, saying, ‘You look like a woman’ at a drinking party with the victim and others, expressing his desire for young women crookedly. He avoided responsibility by sending an apology text to the victim’s request, saying, ‘You are like a daughter to me,'” and asked to take strict punishment for the defendant who is not reflecting on himself during the investigation and trial process.
In his final statement, Oh Young-soo said, “It’s so hard and painful to be in court at this age. With the end of my life like this, it’s disastrous and my whole life seems to be collapsing,” adding, “I wish for a wise ruling.”
In his final argument, Oh Young-soo’s lawyer said, “There is a very lack of evidence that matches the case except for the victim’s statement and the evidence derived from it,” and asked for an acquittal, saying, “In light of the location, conditions, and perspective of the harassment, I wonder if the accused could have committed the crime.”
Oh is accused of hugging A while walking on a trail with her in Daegu in September 2017. Oh is also accused of kissing A on the cheek in front of A’s residence. However, Oh Young-soo has denied the allegations, saying that although it is true that he held the victim’s hand on the trail and visited the victim’s residence, he did not molest her. His sentencing hearing will be held on March 15.
