Song Joong Ki will appear in public with wife Katy for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival, “Please take many photos of us”
Song Joong Ki and his wife Katy Louise Saunders will watch the Cannes-invited film “Hopeless”, making their first public appearance together.
On the evening of May 23rd, Song Joong Ki had an interview with local media at a hotel in downtown Cannes, France. While sharing his whereabouts with reporters, the actor mentioned his wife and child.
Song Joong Ki said, “I haven’t watched the movie yet. I will see it for the first time at the official premiere of the Cannes Film Festival tomorrow. Everyone told me to watch it in advance for the interview, but I did not do it on purpose because I wanted to watch it with the audience at Cannes. I just wanted to enjoy it for the first time at Cannes tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to it. Apart from Cannes, there are technical and internal screenings, but I don’t watch my work there. Whether I would receive criticism or compliment, I wanted to hear all the comments in my first time.”
He continued, “I came here with my wife. Pregnant women in Korea are different from those in foreign countries. In foreign countries, people encourage pregnant women to exercise a lot. It is different from the Korean culture in many ways.”
In the meantime, the actor did not hide his worries about his wife and baby ahead of the childbirth. He honestly shared, “I finally came to Cannes but all my worries are with my wife and my child. I’m only worrying about childbirth. I want to complete my Cannes schedule quickly”.
Song Joong Ki said, “My wife has already retired from acting, but she often attended Cannes Film Festival when she was still active as an actress. She showed me the location of the Lumiere Theater and other places as well as her experiences with the Cannes Film Festival. She also gave me lots of advice.”
“Hopeless” by director Kim Chang Hoon is a noir drama about Yeon Gyu (Hong Xa Bin), a boy who wants to get out of the hellish reality, as he meets organization boss Chi Gun (Song Joong Ki) and experiences the dangerous world together.
The movie was invited to the Noteworthy Work section of the 76th Cannes Film Festival and is scheduled for an official screening at 11 a.m. (local time) on May 24th.
Starring new faces, such as Hong Xa Bin and Kim Hyung Seo, and featuring a completely different acting transformation of Song Joong Ki, “Hopeless” is raising high expectations from viewers.
It is rumored that film industry companies have been requesting the film even before its official screening. Various regions and countries, including France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philipines, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei, have quick;y purchased the movie. According to the distributor, Germany, Britain, Poland, and Italy are in talks to buy it.
About “Hopeless”, an official from Periscoop, a distributor in the Netherlands, said, “As a fan and distributor who loved Korean films from a long time ago, ‘Hopeless’ is a movie that deserves great love from the audience.”
Meanwhile, “Hopeless” will premiere sometime within this year.
