Song Hye Kyo to narrate MBC’s documentary “Grandma is back”, supporting Japanese military comfort women

Song Hye Kyo is in charge of narrating the MBC special documentary “Grandma is back”.

MBC’s March 1 special documentary “Grandma Is Back” testifies to the lives of the “comfort women” during World War II, the background of the establishment of the army brothel during World War II, and the Japanese military’s sexual exploitation through various records and documents.

The main character of “Grandma is back”, which is conveyed through Song Hye Kyo’s voice, is Lee Yong Soo, a 96-year-old grandmother. Lee Yong Soo was a sexual slavery victim in the Japanese imperialist occupation. She is now close to 100 years old. Her only hobby was singing. In particular, she likes “A Woman’s Life,” where the lyrics are like her life.

Jo Kwang Il, the winner of the hip-hop survival program “Show Me the Money Season 10” listened to grandmother Lee Yong Soo’s life story and contributed his talent by composing the lyrics. With Jo Gwang Il’s rap added to “A Woman’s Life” sung by Lee Yong Soo, the song is reborn as a song that everyone remembers and gets comforted by, rather than a song that mourns the pain and suffering.

“Grandma is back” will be broadcast on March 1st at 8:50 am KST. Then, the encore will be broadcast at 8:50 pm KST on March 3rd.
