Song Hye Kyo, Kim Tae Hee, and Jun Ji Hyun’s “male version” are these 3 rising actors

Media outlet Ten Asia revealed 3 rising Korean actors who they consider the “male version” of Song Hye Kyo, Kim Tae Hee, and Jun Ji Hyun

There’s a term in the Korean entertainment industry called “Troika”, which refers to top actors and actresses who are leading the trend. In order to become a “Troika”, stars need to have popularity, visuals, as well as excellent acting.

Originally, this term was used to refer to Song Hye Kyo, Kim Tae Hee, and Jun Ji Hyun, but Ten Asia recently revealed their own list for the “male version” of “Troika”.

In particular, Ten Asia’s list consists of Lee Do Hyun, Lee Jun Ho, and Do Kyung Soo, who they believe possess both fame and attractiveness, along with strong acting skills.

Lee Do Hyun has been making a strong impression with his role as Choi Kang Ho in “The Good Bad Mother.” His portrayal of a character with two distinct personalities, from a cold prosecutor to a man with the mind of a 7-year-old after an accident, has received great praise. Alongside his co-star Ra Mi Ran, Lee Do Hyun has contributed significantly to the success of the series, which achieved a viewership rating of 8.446%, the highest in its time slot.

Lee Do Hyun has also impressed with his performances in various other projects, including “18 Again,” “Sweet Home,” “Youth of May,” “Melancholia,” and “The Glory.”

On the other hand, unlike Lee Do Hyun, Lee Jun Ho and Do Kyung Soo both started their careers as idol singers. However, they have successfully transitioned into the acting field and are no longer limited to the label of “idol actors.”

Lee Jun Ho’s acting journey of 12 years has shown that he does not want to be confined to a specific image. Although he initially accepted roles with limited screen time, he proved his talent when he took on the role of a financial director in “Chief Kim” (also known as “Good Manager”) in 2017. He then further showcased his versatility in “Rain or Shine” with the portrayal of a man with a carefree appearance yet is filled with past mental wounds and a desire for love.

However, the pinnacle of Lee Jun Ho’s acting career is undoubtedly his role as Yi San in “The Red Sleeve.” This drama created a significant buzz in 2021 and received numerous prestigious awards in South Korea. Lee Jun Ho himself won the Best Actor award at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards, solidifying his talent and recognition.

Meanwhile, Do Kyung Soo, known as D.O., is considered a precious gem in SM Entertainment due to his success in both singing and acting. He gained critical acclaim for his role as the supporting character Han Kang Woo in the TV drama “It’s Okay, That’s Love”, starring alongside Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin.

Afterwards, he continued to prove himself through leading roles in “100 Days My Prince” and “Bad Prosecutor.”

In the film industry, Do Kyung Soo has also achieved significant success. He appeared in both parts of the blockbuster film “Along with the Gods” and won the Best New Actor awards at both the Baeksang Arts Awards and Blue Dragon Film Awards for his leading role in “My Annoying Brother.”

Regarding Ten Asia’s “troika list”, however, audiences have expressed mixed opinions. While some agree with Ten Asia’s choices, others believe they cannot yet be considered male counterparts of Song Hye Kyo, Jun Ji Hyun, and Kim Tae Hee.

In the end, while each person has their own arguments and opinions, it is impossible to deny the fame, attractiveness, and talent of Lee Do Hyun, Do Kyung Soo, and Lee Jun Ho.
