Shin Hyun Been – Song Joong Ki’s co-star in “Reborn Rich”, gorgeous visuals but lacking luck
Actress Shin Hyun Been, who is appearing in “Reborn Rich”, has an interesting background and immense visuals and talent.
Born to a family with an art tradition, winning Baeksang with her debut role
Shin Hyun Been was born on April 10, 1986 into a family with a tradition in the arts. Her father works in designs, so she has always been fond of going to museums and exhibitions. With such a fondness for the arts, the actress ended up enrolling in the Art Theory department of the Korea National University of Art.
After her graduation, however, Shin Hyun Been decided to take up acting, and has stuck to the craft ever since.
In 2010, Shin Hyun Been made her acting debut in the movie “He’s on Duty”, which tackles the topic of discrimination against immigrants in Korea. The film ended up winning her the Best New Actress Award (in Film) at the 47th Baeksang Arts Awards.
In 2011, Shin Hyun Been appeared on the small screen for the first time, playing Yoo Ji Sun in the historical drama “Warrior Baek Dong Soo”. Here, she starred alongside Yoon So Yi, Ji Chang Wook, and Yoo Seung Ho, and the series ended up recording ratings as high as 16.7%
Outstanding start but struggles to establish a stable footing
Despite having an extremely strong start, Shin Hyun Been struggled in her later years, and her leading roles in K-dramas “Mimi”, “Mistress”, “Confession”, “Reflection of You”, and “Monstrous” did not perform as well as expected. Even now, Shin Hyun Been’s most prominent appearances were in “Warrior Baek Dong Soo” and “Hospital Playlist”, where her character was not a major cast member.
Meanwhile, on the big screen, the actress is still lacking some luck. Whilst her major acting performances in “The Lost Choices” and “Beasts Clawing at Straws” are both astounding, neither movie managed to become blockbusters.
Nevertheless, Shin Hyun Been remains a favorite name for advertisers, and across the years, has starred in various commercial films. In 2020 alone, she nailed 5 advertising offers from brands such as Head & Shoulders, Neutrogena, and Maxim T.O.P, and got to work together with the top actor Won Bin.
Friends with two top actresses and boasts outstanding visuals
Shin Hyun Been also draws attention for being close friends with top actresses Kim Go Eun and Han Hyo Joo.
It is known that Shin Hyun Been and Kim Go Eun met on the set of the 2018 movie “Sunset in My Hometown”, and have remained tighter ever since. Meanwhile, according to an interview with magazine Esquire Korea, Shin Hyun Been and Han Hyo Joo “met coincidentally, and have been hanging out for a while”.
Other than her acting projects, Shin Hyun Been also communicates with fans and updates her daily life via her SNS account. In photos, the actress can be seen having fun with non-celebrity friends and her family, boasting an outstanding beauty even in simple styling.
