“Running Man” paid tribute to the nation’s favorite “Family Outing,” the rating successfully doubled
SBS’ “Running Man,” which moved its broadcast time to 6:20 p.m. on Sundays, recorded high ratings right on the first day of 2023.
“Running Man” latest episode, which aired on Jan 1st, 2023, more than doubled its ratings from the previous episode. It topped the rating from audiences in the age group of 20-49 with 4.4% (hereinafter based on Nielsen Korea’s metropolitan households), beating “2 Days 1 Night Season 4” and “King of Masked Singer.” Its highest viewer rating per minute jumped to 8.3%, and the general viewer rating also rose sharply to 6.6%.
“Running Man” had been broadcast every Sunday at 5 p.m. for 6 years and has never missed its time slot’s top spot in terms of ratings from the target age group of 20 to 49. “Running Man” still rules the 20-49 ratings despite the change in broadcast time, proving that it is still a “national variety entertainment.”
The latest episode was under the theme of “Running Man Outing,” which paid tribute to the SBS’ legendary entertainment show “Family Outing.” From the beginning, the “Running Man” members were naturally divided into people that had experience with “Family Outing” and those who were inexperienced, drawing attention.
Yoo Jae Seok, an experienced member, skillfully organized the situation and summoned his once-famous “magic powder.” Another experienced member, Kim Jong Kook, said, “Shouldn’t you at least make us make loach soup?” when he heard that the dinner menu was grilled pork belly and army stew.
