The latest episode of Chinese survival show Ride The Wind has become a hot topic online after another controversial performance triggered intense backlash from viewers.
The biggest discussion this week centered around the performance of “Wave of Rice” by the team consisting of Stephanie Hsiao, Wen Zhengrong, Dai Si, and Zhang Yi Shang.
Visually, the stage initially impressed viewers with its polished production. The performers appeared in glamorous white feathered outfits while performing synchronized choreography on a pink-themed stage decorated with a giant heart centerpiece.
However, despite the eye-catching visuals, the live vocals quickly became the center of criticism online.

Many viewers pointed out that all four members are actresses rather than trained singers, and the lack of vocal experience became painfully obvious during the live performance. Throughout the stage, the performers were criticized for unstable vocals, off-key singing, breath control issues, and awkward note delivery while dancing.
The controversy intensified after the team surprisingly received 845 points and defeated the performance “You Were Once Young” by the team led by Sun Yi, Jiang Yu Chen, Han Qing Zi, He Xuan Lin, and Fan Wei Qi.
Following the results, social media users flooded online forums questioning the judging standards of the studio audience. Some netizens even compared the stage to the infamous “Wish Note” performance from earlier this season, calling it “Wish Note 2.0.”
This is not the first time Ride The Wind has faced criticism over controversial scoring.
Earlier in the season, the performance “Wish Note” by Li Xiao Ran, Tang Yi Xin, and Wang Meng also went viral for weak live singing despite winning against Trang Pháp’s team. Later, another performance from “Bon Bon Girls” sparked debate after viewers criticized Tang Yi Xin’s off-pitch vocals.

Ironically, these heavily criticized stages have become one of the biggest reasons behind the program’s continued popularity. Clips of vocal mistakes and awkward live moments have spread rapidly across social media platforms, inspiring countless reaction videos, memes, and parody content.
Although viewers continue questioning the fairness of the competition, the controversies appear to be keeping the show at the center of online conversation.
The third performance round is expected to continue this weekend with solo stages from team captains, followed by special appearances from contestants from previous seasons. According to the program’s rules, two contestants will be eliminated after this round, increasing pressure on every team heading into the next performances.
