Veteran rapper Paloalto, who has been in the industry for 19 years, answered “K-pop boy band” when asked if BIGBANG was “hip-hop” or not.
On April 15th, Paloalto spent some time answering people’s questions through his Instagram story.
Paloalto continued to communicate with fans, talking about the importance of pet dogs. Then, a netizen asked, “Do you think BIGBANG is ‘hip-hop’, Palo?”, which caught the attention of many. Paloalto said, “I think they are an iconic global K-pop boy band that has influenced many people around the world.”
In other words, this can be interpreted as Paloalto’s position doesn’t consider BIGBANG as ‘hip-hop’. People were very interested in Paloalto’s remarks, as rappers have been known to not recognize idols doing hip-hop music as “hip-hop”.
Meanwhile, BIGBANG, which includes G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, and Daesung, made a comeback after 4 years with the digital single ‘Still Life‘ on April 5th. The lyrics of “Still Life” contained the heavy feelings of the BIGBANG members, touching fans’ hearts. There was also talk of them taking back the title of “The Best of Korean Hip-Hop”.
