WJSN is attracting netizens’ attention after being crowned the winner of “Queendom 2”.
On June 2nd, Mnet’s “Queendom 2” broadcast its finale with the first place belonging to WJSN. After a month of fierce competition among talented girl groups, WJSN excellently became the winner with a total of 81,020 points. Starship’s girl group captivated viewers’ hearts with an explosive performance of the song “Aura”.
WJSN (also known as Cosmic Girls) is a Korean-Chinese female idol group under Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment. They debuted on February 25, 2016 with the mini-album “Would You Like?”.
Despite having a lineup full of outstanding visuals, WJSN still struggled to succeed in the competitive Kpop industry. Among the members, Bona, SeolA, and Cheng Xiao have especially stood out since debut thanks to their beauty. In “Queendom 2”, SeolA was voted the No.1 visual among all female idols participating in the show. Bona recently left a strong impression with her role as Ko Yu Rim in the hit drama “Twenty Five, Twenty One”. Acting alongside the female lead Kim Tae Ri, Bona was not overshadowed at all.
Initially, WJSN debuted with a 13-member lineup. However, since 2020, 3 Chinese members, Cheng Xiao, Meiqi and Xuanyi, have focused on their activities in China, so WJSN is actively promoting with 10 members.
Unlike when in Korea, the three Chinese members achieved more success in their home country, especially Cheng Xiao, who is working as an actor and singer. Besides, Meiqi and Xuanyi have become more famous after joining Rocket Girls 101. Therefore, there are many rumors that the 3 female idols have left the group permanently.
Despite winning “Queendom 2”, WJSN is embroiled in a cheating controversy after netizens discovered that the final scores may have been manipulated. However, WJSN’s efforts and performance over the past time are undeniable and the group fully deserves this title.
