Police Officer Arrested For Leaking Late Lee Sun-kyun’s Investigation Information
A police officer was arrested for leaking investigation information related to the late actor Lee Sun-kyun.
According to the investigation authorities on March 21st, the anti-corruption and economic crime investigation team of the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency urgently arrested an executive-level police officer A from the Incheon Police Agency earlier in the day.
A is suspected of leaking a report containing the progress of the investigation into Lee Sun-kyun’s drug case to the outside. He is known to be working in another department that is not related to the drug crime investigation team.
Along with the arrest of A, the police also conducted a second raid on the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency, including his department. The police plan to transfer A to the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency to investigate the overall details and start analyzing the confiscated items.
The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency, which was in charge of Lee Sun-kyun’s drug case, asked the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency to investigate how the investigation information was leaked in January, and the case was allocated to the anti-corruption and economic crime investigation team.
The Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency’s anti-corruption and economic crime investigation team has been conducting investigations by conducting raids on the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s drug crime investigation team and media companies that reported Lee Sun-kyun’s investigation information.
Meanwhile, Lee Sun-kyun passed away on Dec. 27 last year while under investigation for drug use. Later, his fellow artists released a statement calling for an investigation into how the case’s information was leaked.
