Criticisms are pouring in for Park Seo Joon, who refused to wear a headband prepared by a fan during a recent event.
“Concrete Utopia”, a film starring Lee Byung Hun, Park Seo Joon, and Park Bo Young, is set to be released on August 9th. The movie depicts survivors who gather in the only remaining apartment building in Seoul, which has turned into ruins due to a massive earthquake. As of 8 AM (KST) on August 7th, the film holds a 21.9% share in the integrated ticketing system, ranking first in advance ticket sales among Korean movies and second in overall ticket sales, raising expectations.
As the release date approaches, the actors are engaged in promotion events such as stage greetings. During one of these events, however, Park Seo Joon faces attitude controversy for refusing a fan’s request.
In particular, since Park Seo Joon and Park Bo Young play a couple in “Concrete Utopia”, one fan prepared couple headbands resembling Zootopia’s Nick and Judy, characters with similarities to them.
Upon receiving these, Park Bo Young wore the Judy headband first and then handed the Nick one to Park Seo Joon. However, Park Seo Joon refused to wear the headband, gesturing that he had applied hair spray.
Park Bo Young nodded in understanding at Park Seo Joon’s reaction, and continued to hold the headband in her hand for a while.
As the video of this incident spread through various social media platforms, netizens expressed heated reactions. In particular, many criticized Park Seo Joon, leaving comments such as, “Isn’t wearing a headband a common practice during stage greetings?”, “Even if he didn’t want to wear it, he could have accepted it,” and “Other actors do it, so why not him?”
Meanwhile, stage greetings are a form of fan service in Korea, and during these events, most actors readily accept fans’ requests, such as wearing headbands or necklaces. As a result, Park Seo Joon’s actions on that day were seen as inappropriate and sparked an attitude controversy.
At the same time, one netizen expressed sympathy for Park Bo Young, saying, “Poor Park Bo Young, her hand gesture showed it all.”
