Park Jin-young Earns A Lot From KBS Logo Song & Copyrights Of TWICE’s Songs

tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” broadcast on November 1st revealed the estimated assets of Bang Si-hyuk and Park Jin-young.

On the broadcast, Yoo Jae-suk said, “As g.o.d became national singers, they also released a lot of mega-hit songs”, mentioning the songs Park Jin-young and Bang Si-hyuk produced together.

He said, “Park Jin-young has 626 songs registered under his name on KOMCA (Korea Music Copyright Association), while Bang Si-hyuk has 444 songs”.

Yoo Jae-suk then asked, “What do you often make first, the melody or the lyrics?”. In response, Park Jin-young said, “I often come up with ideas for the lyrics, the melody and the dance at the same time”.

Bang Si-hyuk also said, “When I met him, he was the type of person who would sit in front of the keyboard to work. After learning from him for a long time, I also found myself changing and beginning to write lyrics and melody together in my head”.

Park Jin-young composed the logo song for KBS while Bang Si-hyuk made one for Homeplus CM. Regarding KBS logo song, Park Jin-young said, “It was at the top in my year-end settlement report. The song comes out on broadcasts several times a day”, adding “I did it at the request of a PD, and I actually earned a lot from it”.

Yoo Jae-suk commented, “So I should write a logo song for a broadcasting station. Now we know it. It’s really a gold mine”, drawing laughter. When asked, “The No.1 song in terms of copyright profits?”, Park Jin-young said, “It’s definitely recent ones”, then mentioned TWICE’s “What is Love” and “Feel Special”. He added, “The units are different. I talked to Si-hyuk about that before. I said, ‘One hit song makes billions of dollars in the US’, and that’s really what happened”.
