NMIXX introduces their debut on Kim Shin-young’s radio show, “Title song ‘O.O’ resembles the widely opened eyes. Everyone would be surprised when they see us”

JYP’s rookie girl group NMIXX appeared on MBC FM4U’s “Kim Shin-young’s Noon Song of Hope”.

On the March 7th broadcast of MBC FM4U’s “Kim Shin-young’s Noon Song of Hope“, NMIXX (Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Jinni, BAE, Jiwoo, Kyujin) introduced and talked about their new album.

On this day, DJ Kim Shin-young asked, “It is the first time you appear on a radio show as a whole. ‘Kim Shin-young’s Noon Song of Hope’ is considered the Marine Corps camp of the radio industry. Did the seniors in the agency give you any advice?”, NMIXX made everyone laugh by replying, “There was no such thing.”

Regarding their first appearance on a radio program, Jinni said, “I’m so excited and nervous. I’m afraid I’ll make a mistake.” Jiwoo shared, “It’s the first time the seven of us appear on the radio, so we’re nervous and determined to have fun. It feels like my heart is going to explode.” Bae expressed her feelings, “I’m very nervous. Because it’s a live broadcast, it’s amazing that there are so many cameras. I think it’s an honor to meet Kim Shin-young.” Sullyoon confessed, “I’m nervous now because it’s my first time participating in a radio show.”

After leader Haewon introduced, “The group name NMIXX is a combination of ‘N’ in now, new, next, the unknown quantity n and ‘MIX’ which symbolizes diversity. It means ‘the best combination that will be responsible for the new era'”, Kim Shin-young, other members and fans cheered that she memorized well.

Kim Shin-young then asked the meaning of the fandom name “NSWER“, “It’s been about 2~3 weeks since your debut, and the fandom name has already been decided.” Lily explained, “It contains the meaning of North, South, West, East, Route, which means that the fandom will be our path and answer.”

Congratulating the release of NMIXX’s debut single album, Kim Shin-young said, “Is it true that the album surpassed 220,000 copies as soon as it was released? This is the highest initial sales record in terms of girl groups’ debut albums. You knew it, right?”. NMIXX members replied, “We read it in articles a few days ago”, adding, “We actually had no idea about that and didn’t expect it to do this well. We’re grateful to receive so much love”.

Regarding the album “AD MARE”, Bae introduced, “The name of our first single ‘AD MARE’ means ‘to the sea’ in Latin. This album marks the very first start of our journey to the world which is like a sea of dreams. It contains NMIXX’s bold ambition to overcome our inner fears and move forward beyond the ocean”. Kyu-jin then talked about the title song “O.O”, “It resembles the emoticon of widely opened eyes and means everyone would be surprised when they see us. This song is a mixture of Baile Funk and Teenage Pop Rock genres”.

When Kim Shin-young asked, “NMIXX is the first group in JYP that has your own worldview. Did you try to study that worldview?”, NMIXX answered, “We listened to the explanation carefully and we are still trying to learn about it as much as possible. We learned a lot about it in order to act and film the music video. You will find out more interesting details when you watch the music video”.

Kim Shin-young continued to ask, “Was it difficult to learn about the worldview?”, Jinni said, “I didn’t understand anything at the first time hearing about it. In fact, I still can’t understand it well but I’m trying to learn more”. Upon hearing that, Kim Shin-young said, “It would be great if we can get to know about the worldview together. I think NSWERs can tell you the answer”, and the members also agreed.

“Kim Shin-young’s Noon Song of Hope” airs every day from 12 P.M to 2 P.M on MBC FM4U (91.9 MHz in the metropolitan area). The radio can also be heard through PC and smartphone the ‘mini’ app.
