New zombie K-drama is being praised to the clouds for top quality plot

The new K-drama “Monstrous” is Korea’s latest take on zombies and the supernaturals.

After successful zombie series like “Kingdom”, “All of us are Dead”, and “Happiness”, Korea is welcoming yet another take on this thrilling genre via “Monstrous”. With only 6 episodes, the K-drama is not just limited to just pure zombies, but also takes up spiritual elements, which help it stand out amid numerous other works about the undead. It will also star a power cast, including Goo Kyo Hwan from “D.P”, Shin Hyun Bin from “Hospital Playlist”, Kwak Dong Yeon from “Vincenzo”, the famous child actor Nam Da Reum, who you might have spotted in “Start Up” and “While You Were Sleeping”, as well as many more.

“Monstrous” is set in a small village, where strange phenomena occur after a Buddha statue was discovered. What follows is a series of mysterious events, turning people into uncontrollable and enraged creatures. To break this curse, archaeologists and police officers have to join hands to uncover dark secrets and the true cause of these phenomena.

The series recently released all of its 6 episodes at once, with each episode lasting a meager 30 minutes.  However, despite its short runtime, “Monstrous” is all the rage on the internet, earning numerous praises for the well-written script, the brilliant acting, and the thrills that transpire  throughout the entire watch.

Some comments from netizens:

  • This one really takes the zombie genre to the next level
  • This K-drama is perfect for binge-watching. But don’t watch it at night or you will seriously regret it
  • I was like “another zombie series?” at first, but then I was blown away. Too bad it’s so short
  • How can I give money to Korean producers so they can make this a 16-episode series? Why are K-dramas so short nowadays?
  • Shin Hyun Bin has improved from “Hospital Playlist”, and the rest of the cast totally pulled off. 10/10 would recommend guys.
