◇ The Trend of Complex Genre? Medical Romance “Doctor Slump” & Criminal Growth Drama “Flex X Cop”

Drama creators are also challenging the complex genre, which combines romance and growth stories in the basic genre script. Set to premiere on January 27th, JTBC’s “Doctor Slump” is about Jung-woo (Park Hyung-sik), a star plastic surgeon who falls into the abyss in a moment due to a mysterious medical accident, meeting Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye), who faces a burn out while working as an anesthesiologist, and overcoming their own crisis. Unlike other medical dramas that solve urgent issues in operating rooms, this drama focuses more on the everyday life, concerns and romance of the two doctors. It also marks the reunion of Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye after 11 years since SBS’s “The Heirs” (2013).
