Netizens complain about the length of NewJeans’ 2nd EP “Get Up”

As girl group NewJeans recently dropped their high-anticipated EP “Get Up”, netizens have shown mixed opinions.

On July 21st, NewJeans’ 2nd EP “Get Up” was officially released with a total of 6 songs, including “New Jeans”, “Super Shy”, “ETA”, “Cool With You”, “Get Up”, and “ASAP”. While the songs are already doing well on both domestic and international charts, many have shown mixed opinions.

In particular, some netizens complain about the length of NewJeans’ latest mini-album, pointing out that although there are 6 tracks, the total length is only around 12 minutes. None of the songs last more than 3 minutes, with the longest song being “Super Shy” (2 minutes 35 seconds) and the shortest, “Get Up”, only running for 37 seconds. In addition, B-side track “New Jeans” is even less than 2 minutes long.

As a result, many were disappointed and perplexed, claiming that the whole album is only as long as 3 normal songs. However, others praise the music quality, stating that the length shouldn’t matter, as long as the songs themselves are good.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • I personally think that the short length is a good thing for NewJeans. In general, their songs are pretty chill, and can get repetitive if they are dragged too long
  • People these days are obsessed with short contents, so it comes as no surprise that songs are getting shorter
  • As long as the music is good, I don’t really care
  • Shouldn’t songs be at least 3 minutes long? This entire album is so short, it feels more like a preview
  • Songs getting this short feels like instead of having a whole-course meal, I’m eating fast food
  • The songs are good, if only they were longer…
