Netflix confirmed the production of Season 2 of the famous drama “Squid Game”, heralding the beginning of the “Squid Game” Universe.
On January 20th (local time), the U.S media Variety reported, “Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos officially confirmed that Netflix will make Season 2 for ‘Squid Game’, the breakout hit of 2021.” In an interview about Netflix’s profit in the 4th quarter of 2021, Sarandos was asked whether he would produce Season 2 for “Squid Game”. I want to talk about things that have not been explained yet.”
JTBC’s “JTBC Newsroom” conducted an interview on January 13th with Lee Jung-jae. The actor revealed that director Hwang Dong-hyuk had already started writing the scenario, raising fans’ expectations. With the confirmation of “Squid Game” Season 2 production, netizens are also wondering whether actors, such as Jung Ho-yeon, Oh Young-soo, etc., who became the talk of the town after ‘Squid Game’, would join the next season.
Meanwhile, “Squid Game” has gained huge popularity, with the number of its viewers exceeding 100 million. Last year, the drama also made headlines by winning several awards at the Gotham Awards in the U.S.
