Netflix officially announced the production of “Squid Game” Season 2, “Director Hwang Dong-hyuk is writing the scenario”

Netflix confirmed the production of Season 2 of the famous drama “Squid Game”, heralding the beginning of the “Squid Game” Universe.

On January 20th (local time), the U.S media Variety reported, “Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos officially confirmed that Netflix will make Season 2 for ‘Squid Game’, the breakout hit of 2021.” In an interview about Netflix’s profit in the 4th quarter of 2021, Sarandos was asked whether he would produce Season 2 for “Squid Game”. Sarandos replied, “Absolutely”, adding, “The ‘Squid Game’ Universe has just begun”.

Because of this news, past remarks by “Squid Game” director Hwang Dong-hyuk and the main character actor Lee Jung-jae are being re-examined. In an interview conducted with CNN Film School last year, director Hwang Dong-hyuk said, “I opened a discussion about “If we get Season 2, what should we talk about?. I want to talk about things that have not been explained yet.”

JTBC’s “JTBC Newsroom” conducted an interview on January 13th with Lee Jung-jae. The actor revealed that director Hwang Dong-hyuk had already started writing the scenario, raising fans’ expectations.
