Netflix CEO, “The success of ‘Squid Game’ is incomparable”

Ted Sarandos, the CEO of Netflix, acknowledged the incomparable global success of the Korean drama “Squid Game”.

Ted Sarandos attended a meeting about Netflix and K-content success held at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of June 22nd. At the event, he said, “It is difficult to compare the success of ‘Squid Game’ with other works by any standards”.

CEO Kim Ji Yeon of First Man Studio, the production company of “Squid Game” shared, “There were many unimaginably joyful, dynamic, and fun moments during the process of making ‘Squid Game’. I think we were able to achieve this fruitful achievement in this global era thanks to Netflix.”

CEO Kim continued, “At first, when we said we wanted to create a somewhat strange story like ‘Squid Game’, Netflix supported us as a great partner”, adding “They understood our story and joined us in conducting experiments and taking challenges. That’s why ‘Squid Game’ was able to achieve such results. I am grateful that we could collaborate and create a successful drama together.”

Netflix’s original series “Squid Game 2” will start filming soon. The production team has released part of its casting lineup.
