“My Liberation Note”: Happy endings for both Son Seok-gu – Kim Ji-won and Lee Ki-woo – Lee El

All the characters of “My Liberation Note”, including Kim Ji-won, Lee El, Lee Min-ki, and Son Seok-gu can finally laugh after taking many difficult steps.

The last episode of JTBC’s weekend drama “My Liberation Note” (written by Park Hae-young/directed by Kim Seok-yoon), which aired on the night of May 29th, tells the stories of Yeom’s family and Koo, who finally achieved their respective growth, were broadcast.

During the last episode, Yeom Mi-jung (Kim Ji-won) asked Koo, who is still not free from alcohol, “Why do you drink every day?” Koo replied, “It’s less difficult to be drunk than being sober.”

When Yeom Mi-jung asked back, “Why is it so hard for you?” Goo said, “If I’m sober, all people of my past will come to me. Everyone. Even the dead,” he confessed “I get tired that’s when I decided to drink.”

After hearing this, Yeom Mi-jung replied, “I’m the same even though I don’t drink. Every day when I wake up, I think of people who make me uncomfortable, starting with my team leader. For no reason, they make me feel bad while brushing my teeth. But just give them a smile and try to warmingly welcome them. ‘Are you here again?’”

In this way, Yeom Mi-jung reunites with Koo and they comfort each other even in a reality that is not easy for both of them. They seem to be dependent on each other without realizing it.

Meanwhile, Yeom Mi-jung happened to face the ex-boyfriend who took her money. Yeom Mi-jung, who vowed to swear and beat him up if she faced him again, did not even deal with her ex-boyfriend, perhaps because she has grown mature without knowing it.

My Liberation Notes

The scene of Yeom Mi-jung ignoring her ex-boyfriend unknowingly suggested that she is free from such feelings of hatred.

Yeom Chang-hee (Lee Min-ki) also visited the liberation house. Yeom Chang-hee, who was there at his mother’s last day and stayed with Ji Hyun-ah’s husband until the end, finally finds meaning in a lecture for the funeral instructor certificate, which he visited by mistake. Fatefully found what he can do, and that’s how Yeom Chang-hee became a funeral instructor.

My Liberation Notes

Yeom Ki-jung (Lee El) is not perfect, but she also found a place to liberate herself. She was disappointed by Cho Tae-hoon (Lee Ki-woo), who said it was “fortunate” after learning that she was not pregnant. She started to wonder if they were on the verge of parting, but as Lee Ki-woo explained, their love deepened.

There is still a wall of reality between them, but they still rely on and love each other despite their imperfection selves.

My Liberation Notes

Koo, who was struggling at the bottom of his life, also took a step toward liberation from hell due to Yeom Mi-jung in the final episode. Although he fell into a crisis as his trusted brother turned his gambling debt to him in the end, Koo changed his mind by reflecting on Yeom Mi-jung’s words.

Koo went to meet Yeom Mi-jung after putting his feet down “one step at a time with difficulty.” The couple faced each other before ending with a smile.

My Liberation Notes

Even Yeom’s family and Koo, who had lived an unhappy achromatic life, smiled at the end, showing that they had matured to a better extent.
