“My Dearest” actors have not even read the script for the last episode although the drama will end next week
According to broadcasting insiders, the script for episode 20 (the last episode) has not yet been delivered to the actors although there are only 10 days left before the drama ends. On November 8th, a broadcasting official told SPOTV News, “I haven’t received the script for episode 20. The script for episode 19 was revealed only a week ago”.
All the teams of the production crew have been very busy with the filming. Considering the complicated filming of historical drama, concerns over the completion of the drama arose. In the meantime, MBC has already announced “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” as the follow-up Friday-Saturday series and its first broadcast would be November 24th. As a result, some people say that the filming of “My Dearest” is a little bit rushed, and even with a high-quality script, it might be difficult to complete all the shoots as scheduled.
In fact, “My Dearest” is continuing its forced shoots towards the end. During the past month, the production crew had to mobilize Team C to support Teams A and B with the extensive shooting. They took a break between Part 1 and Part 2 to have time for the filming, but starting the first broadcast without securing enough footage put the whole process in a hurried situation.
Therefore, there have been reports that the cast, including Namkoong Min and Ahn Eun-jin, will continue filming until the 18th, known to be the last day of “My Dearest” broadcast. As such, viewers are raising concerns over the main characters’ health due to the prolonged filming schedules.
Observing the situation, a broadcasting official expressed regrets, saying “The staff are working 52 hours a week by switching between Team A, Team B and Team C for the shoots. I’m also worried about the health of the actors who might have been overworking themselves due to the busy shoots”.
Starring Namkoong Min and Ahn Eun-jin as protagonists, “My Dearest” is a historical melodrama about the romance of lovers during the Qing invasion of Joseon and the survival of people in war. As the drama received huge love from viewers, MBC is also discussing extending the episodes. Since there are too many stories to tell in one episode, the plan to increase the number of episodes is being considered. In fact, the running time of each episode in Part 2 has already been lengthened to convey the pain of the era and the characters’ heartbreaking love better.
However, as the end is approaching, some have begun to wonder whether “My Dearest” can wrap up beautifully amid the current situation with various problems, such as lack of time and excessive filming schedules. Others are expecting the drama to have a grand ending and revive the performance of MBC dramas.
