Appearing on JTBC’s variety show Science Students’ Counseling Club – Solving It Bit by Bit, which aired on December 24, Tzuyang admitted, “I’m constantly hungry to the point that it interferes with daily life. I always wonder whether it’s really okay to keep eating every time I feel hungry.”
Recalling her school days, she shared that the issue caused her severe stress from a young age. “I couldn’t even attend school properly. I often left class to eat, and sometimes I tried to fill my stomach with water,” she said. There was even a period when eating dominated her life more than studying or hobbies.

Given her ability to consume extreme quantities such as 20 packs of instant noodles, 50 servings of grilled intestines, or up to 5 kilograms of steak the financial burden of food is also enormous. “Food expenses are my number one cost. When you add up filming, deliveries, dining out, and treating people around me, it easily exceeds 10 million won a month,” she revealed. “One mukbang alone can cost 3 million won, and in some months I spend tens of millions of won just on food.”
Tzuyang also noted a change in her body, saying, “I used to have a bit of baby fat, but these days the weight just keeps dropping.” Experts on the show analyzed her condition as more than simple overeating. Brain engineering expert Choi Myung-hwan explained, “Satiety can be divided into physical fullness and chemical fullness. Tzuyang seems to experience physical fullness but almost no chemical fullness.” Supporting this, Tzuyang said, “No matter how much sweet food I eat, I’ve never felt truly full.”

Chemistry expert Jang Hong-je added that her body type may allow her stomach to expand easily without placing much strain on her body. “Food appears to pass quickly into the intestines after she eats, repeatedly putting her in a state where she can continue eating,” Jang Hong-je said. Tzuyang also shared that medical checkups showed her stomach is slightly larger than average and her intestinal activity is extremely active.
The secret behind maintaining a body weight of just 44 kilograms despite massive food intake lies in what she described as frequent “output.” “I go to the bathroom very often and flush a lot,” she admitted, even recalling having to flush multiple times at highway rest stops. Experts concluded that her body has a clear balance between intake and output, which explains her stable weight.
Meanwhile, health concerns surrounding mukbang creators have drawn renewed attention. Another mukbang YouTuber, Short Mouth Sun, recently suspended activities after being embroiled in allegations involving illegal diet pills and IV drip treatments. Short Mouth Sun issued an apology, stating that the situation occurred because she believed the provider was a licensed doctor, and has since halted all broadcasting activities.
