More fun when you know it: ‘The Glory’ plot twists

Warning: The following contains spoilers.

On the 10th, Part 2 of the Netflix original series “The Glory” was released. “The Glory” tells the story of a woman who was broken to her soul by childhood violence and embarks on a meticulously planned revenge, and the people who get caught up in the vortex of that revenge.

The Glory 2

In Part 1, the past traumas experienced by Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) and the current state of the group led by the perpetrator, Park Yeon Jin (Im Ji Yeon), were depicted. This led to the buildup of Moon Dong Eun’s revenge story.

As Moon Dong Eun’s plan for revenge slowly unfolds, her accomplices, including Ju Yeon Jung (Lee Do Hyun), Kang Hyun Nam (Yeom Hye Ran), and Goo Seong Hee (Song Na Young), appear. They are the long-term supporters and the only ones on her side for her revenge.

In the newly released Part 2, Moon Dong Eun’s sharpened sword of revenge precisely aimed at the perpetrators. The ending leaves one thinking of the phrase, “You reap what you sow.”

In particular, the story written by Kim Eun Sook and directed by Ahn Gil Ho was depicted in great detail, not only in terms of the catharsis of revenge but also in terms of the perfect resolution of clues. So, what hidden plot twists are in “The Glory” that are even more intriguing when you know them?

#Soul #Eyes #Hands #Mouth, Poster Foretells the Doom of Perpetrators

In the character posters released ahead of Part 2, Moon Dong Eun’s message to the perpetrators is contained. Park Yeon Jin’s poster says “Your soul that rejoiced in every moment,” Jeon Jae Joon’s (Park Sung Hoon) says “Those bitter eyes,” Lee Sera’s (Kim Hee Ra) says “Those hands that mocked and destroyed,” Choi Hye Jung’s (Cha Ju Young) says “That mouth that laughed loudly at others’ misfortunes,” and Son Myung Oh’s (Kim Gun Woo) says “Those feet that led the way in others’ suffering.

The Glory

As per the messages in the character posters, the perpetrators met their doom. Son Myung Oh crawled on the ground in front of death. Choi Hye Jung, who had a flippant mouth, lost her voice. Jeon Jae Joon, who had a complex about his color blindness, lost his eyesight and fell into darkness. Park Yeon Jin, who went to jail, was left with an empty shell of a broken soul.

As the character posters foretold, the perpetrators met their doom one by one.

People with the letter ‘ㅇ’ in their names

In Part 1, Park Yeon Jin’s mother (Yoon Da Kyung) tells her daughter, “The Bodhisattva said to avoid people with the letter ‘ㅇ’ in their names. Did you not listen?” However, Park Yeon Jin’s husband is Ha Do Young (Jung Sung Il), and her daughter, who doesn’t cause her any pain, is Ha Ye Sol (Oh Ji Yul). All of them have the letter ‘ㅇ’ in their names. Furthermore, despite her mother’s warning, Park Yeon Jin continues to associate with Son Myung Oh and Choi Hye Jung as if they were friends.

The Glory

So do people with the letter ‘ㅇ’ in their names really harm her, as she was warned by the Bodhisattva? But when we look at the story that unfolds, these people are not harmful to Park Yeon Jin. Instead, they become the ones who suffer because of her. Ha Do Young divorces her, Ha Ye Sol’s mother becomes a murderer, and Son Myung Oh and Choi Hye Jung both meet their tragic end.

The person who leads Park Yeon Jin to her downfall is none other than her own mother. In Part 2, Park Yeon Jin’s mother, whose name is revealed to be Hong Young Ae, appears at last. Among the names with the letter ‘ㅇ’ that the Bodhisattva mentioned, hers is the most prominent. All three of her name’s characters have the letter ‘ㅇ,’ and even two of them are in one character.

Hong Young Ae, who has been having Detective Shin Young Joon (Lee Hae Young) cover up for her daughter, ultimately hands over Park Yeon Jin’s name tag when she’s cornered. When Hong Young Ae is pushed to a corner, she ruthlessly abandons her daughter.

Park Yeon Jin, betrayed by her mother, falls into despair and destruction. The person who caused the most harm to her was her mother, Hong Young Ae, whose name is filled with the letter ‘ㅇ.’

Another victim of the Park Yeon-jin gang, Kim Kyung-ran

From Part 1, attention was drawn to whether Moon Dong-eun would become a blade or an obstacle, and another victim of school violence, Kim Kyung-ran (played by Ahn So-yo), was also in the spotlight.

There was footage of a scene where Kim Kyung-ran was close friends with Moon Dong-eun before she became the target of school violence. However, after Moon Dong-eun left the school, Kim Kyung-ran became the new target and even became a victim of the perpetrators.

Later, when Moon Dong-eun became an adult and visited Siesta to meet Son Myung-oh, many people speculated about the way Kim Kyung-ran looked at her. It was speculated that Kim Kyung-ran recognized Moon Dong-eun and resented Dong-eun for making her a target of school violence.

The question of what influence the previously silent Kim Kyung-ran would have on Moon Dong-eun’s revenge was a point of interest.

In Part 2, when the lid was opened, it was revealed that Moon Dong-eun and Kim Kyung-ran had both chosen to remain silent. They recognized each other at first glance but deliberately ignored each other.

Although Kim Kyung-ran had also sharpened the blade of revenge for a long time, Moon Dong-eun asked her not to do anything. At the same time, Kim Kyung-ran’s pain is revealed. Both Kim Kyung-ran and Moon Dong-eun were victims in different ways.

Kim Kyung-ran, who had a minor presence in Part 1, played a crucial role in Part 2. It was a revenge thread for both young girls in Part 1 and for the adult pair who reunited at Siesta.
