Moon Geun Young won the Kang Soo Yeon Award at the Women’s Film Award “My idol, I will follow your path”

Moon Geun Young won the Kang Soo Yeon Award, which was established for the first time this year.

On December 15th, the 2022 Women’s Film Award was held at Cinecube in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. Actress Moon Sori hosted the event.

Moon Geun Young delivered her acceptance speech through a video due to her busy schedule. Moon Geun Young said, “I received a very meaningful award. Senior Kang Soo Yeon is my idol. I always wanted to be like her. I will continue to walk the path paved by her. I am very happy and honored.”

She continued, “On the one hand, I feel the burden of accepting this award because I am infinitely insufficient compared to my senior. I met her at the opening of the Busan International Film Festival. It was after I was sick, and she said this when she saw my arm wound. Everyone will only see your acting. Wounds would not become hindrances or scars.”

In addition, Moon Geun Young said, “I will remember my senior’s sincere heart and act hard with courage. I will become a junior who follows the path of her senior well.”.

This year, actress Kang Soo Yeon passed away in May and the ‘Kang Soo Yeon Award’ was established to honor her achievements and contributions to the Korean film industry over the past 50 years. The winners were selected by the Women Film Award nomination committee for theatrical releases and OTT original films from November 6, 2021, to November 5, 2022.
