Minji’s birthday comfort, Hyein’s foot fracture, Danielle’s confession “NewJeans isn’t really smiling”

Minji, who celebrated her birthday on May 7th, communicated with fans through the fan communication app Phoning on the previous day, May 6th. Fans left comments saying they felt like crying upon hearing Minji’s voice after a long time. In response, Minji said, “Crying? What are you talking about? Don’t cry. Did you cry because you missed me? Don’t cry! Everyone. There will only be good things, right?” She comforted fans, showing maturity.

There was also regrettable news. Member Hyein declared a break from activities due to a foot fracture. On May 8th, ADOR announced on the fan community platform Weverse, “Hyein has decided to refrain from participating in official activities, including music broadcasts/performance for the double single ‘How Sweet’, and instead focus on rest and recovery.”

According to ADOR, Hyein was diagnosed with a minor fracture in her foot during practice last month, and since then, she has been focusing on treatment and recovery, but received advice from medical professionals to minimize movements that could strain her foot. The agency stated, “Depending on Hyein’s condition and medical advice, she will flexibly participate in schedules other than music broadcasts/performance.” While Hyein’s situation is due to unavoidable health issues, the news that she will not be participating in the long-prepared comeback activities is disappointing.

Danielle also had to reassure fans and dispel worries rather than appearing entirely cheerful during her communication with fans through Phoning on May 8th. Danielle confessed “Some Bunnies (NewJeans’ fandom) were very worried because we were a little quieter than usual. Thank you so much for your concern and support. Meanwhile, NewJeans, following the release of their new song “Bubble Gum” music video on April 27th, will release the double single “How Sweet” on May 24th. They have also scheduled a fan meeting at the Tokyo Dome on June 26th-27th.

Min Hee-jin, the head of NewJeans’ agency, continues to engage in a heated legal battle with HYBE. On May 7th, CEO Min filed an application for a preliminary injunction against the exercise of voting rights against HYBE in the Seoul Central District Court after HYBE attempted to convene an extraordinary general meeting to dismiss her. A hearing is scheduled for May 17th.
