Male K-pop Idol Praised for Allegedly Shading Starbucks Amid Boycott

A 4th gen male K-pop idol is being praised for allegedly making a negative comment about Starbucks amid the global boycott.

Since October, a serious humanity crisis has been committed against the residents in Palestine due to attacks from Israel. As most people protest against Israel’s actions, a boycott movement called BDS was formed.

Per the BDS, people should avoid buying from brands that show support for Israel, and McDonalds and Starbucks are major targets.

As a result, K-pop idols who were spotted drinking and buying from Starbucks have been facing criticism from international fans, and the K-drama “Queen of Tears” also came under fire for the appearance of a Starbucks cup

Amid these scrutiny, however, a 4th gen male K-pop idol was praised for his recent action.

In particular, 8TURN’s leader, Jaeyun, recently held a live broadcast via YouTube to interact with fans. The male idol, who is from New Zealand, can be seen drinking coffee throughout the broadcast. Then, when asked which brand of coffee that was, he replied that it was from A Twosome Place – A Korean brand, before adding, “Not somewhere… dodgy”.

Netizens believe that Jaeyun’s words are intentionally talking about his coffee and shading Starbucks as “shady”. He was also seen reading a comment from a Palestinian fan, drawing attention.

Previously, ENHYPEN’s Jake also drew attention for directly addressing the Starbuck boycott
