LOONA faced disbandment crisis after partial victory in contract termination lawsuit and Chuu’s exit

Girl group LOONA finds themselves in a deep crisis after 5 out of 9 members lost their contract termination lawsuit against the agency.

On January 13th, the 1st Civil Division of the Seoul Northern District Court (Chief Judge Jeong Mun Seong) ruled that out of 9 LOONA members that filed a request to suspend their exclusive contract with the agency Blockberry Creative, 4 members won and 5 members lost.

In particular, Heejin, Kim Lip, JinSoul, and Choerry, who won the case, will have their contract with Blockberry Creative terminated on this day. They were maintaining the same contract as Chuu’s previously known contract. However, Haseul, Yeojin, Yves, Olivia Hye, and Gowon will remain with the agency. Because they changed some of the terms of the contract a year or two ago, the court did not consider it unfair enough to terminate the contract.

On the other hand, Vivi and Hyunjin did not participate in the lawsuit, so only 7 LOONA members remained with Blockberry Creative.

Aside from Chuu, who was expelled earlier, Heejin, Kim Lip, JinSoul and Choerry will leave Blockberry, making it difficult for the team to work smoothly. Attention is being focused on whether LOONA can be maintained.

LOONA was originally scheduled to make a comeback by releasing “The Origin Album [0]” on Jan 3rd, but postponed the comeback indefinitely as public opinion worsened after Chuu’s withdrawal.
