Following Chuu’s forced withdrawal, LOONA’s comeback postponed indefinitely, “All members have begun to change their attitudes”

After various oppositions from the fandom and controversies surrounding LOONA’s exclusive contract, the group’s latest comeback has been delayed.

On December 12th, the agency of girl group LOONA, Blockberry Creative, posted an announcement on the group’s official fancafe. In particular, they confirmed that LOONA’s upcoming comeback with “The Origin Album [0]” on January 3rd, 2023, is now postponed indefinitely.

Below is a translation of the full announcement:

“Hello, this is Blockberry Creative.

First of all, we would like to apologize for causing a lot of concerns to fans of LOONA this month due to the various events surrounding our company. We would like to apologize to you for all these tiring issues.

After listening to the opinions of many Orbit (fans of LOONA), we decided that comeback activities are meaningless without resolving the various concerns regarding the members’ situation.

Therefore, the 11-member album ‘The Origin Album [0]’, which was scheduled to be released on January 3rd, 2023, has been decided to be postponed indefinitely.

In addition, we would like to explain to fans of LOONA who have shown support for the group about the ongoing issues.

LOONA is a long and painstaking project.

Because it is a long-term and huge project that requires a lot of investment and money compared to a typical idol group, there were a lot of occasions where the end products are not reflective of our efforts.

Since LOONA was planned and formed, it has been an endless stream of payments and costs for a small-and-medium sized company. But of course, paying for the pre-investment cost was the responsibility of the agency.

There are many misunderstandings and assumptions about the settlement issue, but we have always been sorry for the LOONA project, which was not profitable for a long time. From the outset, it seemed impossible for the project to reach the break-even point, even with the investment and effort of an unprofitable agency and the faith and sacrifice of the members, who believe in us and follow us.

It was a reckless attempt by a small agency, but in 2022, 6 years after the first debut project, through great efforts and patience of the members who believed in such a small company, the light of hope was finally discovered.

It would be great if LOONA gained attention from the public equally as a group, but due to the nature of a multi-member girl group, some members will be more recognized first, and it is inevitable that we will support members who first gained public recognition. All the members wanted to go together, but unfortunately, contrary to our expectations, the attitude of a former member began to change.

As a result, we took the risk of pre-investment to change the contract to further the future of LOONA, and tried to protect all LOONA members. However, as everyone knows, we came to an unfortunate conclusion.

As a small and medium-sized agency, we are proud of our multiple efforts to plan the project of LOONA with the aim to make a breakthrough in Kpop history, regardless of its success or failure.

Of course, all the problems that occurred are due to our lack of responsibility and experience, but we cannot stop trying to protect LOONA in some manners and to strive and achieve our dream together.

We also know that many people, including Orbits, must come together to actualize such a dream.

We will create an environment where all the fans can cheer for LOONA with happiness.

We once again deeply apologize, and ask for your support of LOONA’s still-ongoing dreams and future.

Thank you.”
