According to the legal circle on December 26th, Lee Sun-kyun submitted a statement regarding his drug allegations to the Incheon Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Team through his legal representative. In the statement, the actor requested a lie detector test.
Lee Sun-kyun is suspected of smoking marijuana at the residence of entertainment establishment director A earlier this year.
Lee Sun-kyun insisted that the only evidence for the drug accusation against him was the statement of A and claimed that a lie detector test should be conducted to determine the credibility of the claims.
Through a phone call with Yonhap News on the same day, Lee Sun-kyun’s lawyer said, “The third summons recently was in fact a cross-questioning. The police asked questions like ‘What do you think about A’s statement?’”.
They continued, “If A’s statement is true, the National Forensic Service’s precise drug test results should have been positive. However, Lee Sun-kyun received negative results. It is too unfair and A should also undergo a lie detector test so that her statement can be verified scientifically”.
In addition, Lee Sun-kyun’s side has been complying with the police’s public summons so they asked the police to conduct the lie detector test in private. They said, “It is burdensome to present at the police station again. We hope that the police will follow the principle and summon us privately in the future”.
In this regard, the police plan to review Lee Sun-kyun’s request soon and decide on whether a lie detector test is necessary or not.
